Wow, filming is a lot of work
Just a quick note to all of you guys out there. Filming a show for Food Network is much harder than it looks! I though, oh yea, fly someplace, eat some great food, fly home...no problem!
Boy was I wrong, it is tough, with 13 hr days, and the crew works so hard to make sure what goes on the screen looks great (it does)! There are tons of things to think about like lighting, food placement, colors...does the dish look the sme each time.
I have found some great outta the way places like Bowens Island in Charleston SC and Canela in Miami (which we filmed during Tropical Storm Ernesto).
I cant wait till you guys get to see the show, its called the Hungry Detective and should start soon!
Oh by the way, filming the Feasting on Asphalt stuff with Alton was a fun as it looked!

My wife and I saw you on Alton's Feasting on Asphalt and I thought you were great. It sounds like a cliche, but I said "This guy ought to have his own show." Just saw a promo for the new show! How very cool! A place is already reserved for a Tivo season pass.
Come to Cincinnati. Cincinnati Chili and Goetta are not to be missed (and I'm not from around here).

Please let introduce myself. I recently designed a griddle just for cooking fresh jalapeno peppers. I'm not in the cookware business but do have a passion for cooking. I'm actually a construction worker. I've cooked peppers for years but wanted a better griddle that would hold the pepper in a way that it would brown or blister evenly. After weeks of looking to purchase such a griddle, I was unable to locate one , I than designed my own. Please take a few minutes to look at this simple but exciting new griddle design. Chris! I saw you on Feasting on Asphalt, and thought it was a great representation of Hawthorne. Being from Hawthorne myself, it was cool to see the city on TV (although I prefer Piggies to Dino's). Congrats on the new show. Can't wait to see it. :)

'bout 10 years ago you had to keep responding to 911 calls on a particular residence in Hawthorne, some sort of noise violation, cranky neighbors or some such... THAT WAS US!!! Best time we ever had nearly getting arrested.

I was talking with are local police and they to had watched you and we agreed most Cops are on 6 / 12 hour shifts they got to eat so of course they know where the best food is! LIFE IS FUNNY . SECRETLY, I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE AN ACTOR BUT REALIZED LANDLORDS WOULD NOT TAKE LINES FROM BAD MOVIES FOR RENT . JENI, A CONFIRMED FOODIE AND GOURMET CHEF, STARTED OUT AS DELAWARE'S JUNIOR MISS AND TOOK MANY DIFFERENT ROADS FROM A SOCIALITE TO HANGING DRYWALL, SECRETLY LIKED TO WRITE STORIES. AS FATE WOULD HAVE IT AND AS SOME OF YOU KNOW ,HER HUSBAND RICK, A GOOD MAN,WHO PASSED TOO SOON IN LIFE, HAD SAID TO HER IF ANY THING EVER HAPPENED TO HIM, SHE WAS TO GO TO ME FOR HELP . FRANCES CAME, A HURRICANE BIGGER THAN THE STATE ( THEY SAY RELASTIONSHIPS NEVER LAST WHEN THEY ARE PUT THOUGH TRAMATIC EXPERIENCES IN THE BEGINNING- SANDRA BULLOCK FROM THE MOVIE SPEED. JENI HAD A BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS HURRICANE AS SHE HAD BEEN THOUGH THEM BEFORE IN KEY WEST . THE MAYOR OF FT PIERCE WAS ON TV AND SAID IF YOU'RE GOING TO STAY WRITE YOUR NAME AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER ON YOUR ARM FOR YOUR NEXT OF KIN. SO WE PACKED 4 CATS 2 DOGS INTO A GO CART ( TOYOTA CORROLLA) AND TOOK OFF A DAY EARLIER THAN THE REST OF THE CRAZY PEOPLE . YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND GAS STATIONS WERE RAISING THEIR PRICES AND RUNNING LOW ON GAS.THE NEXT TIME WE'RE HAVING A BEER, REMIND ME TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE DRUNK WEATHER CHANNEL LADY AT 5 AM AND ABOUT THE DISAPEARING CAT. NO ,JUST BUY THE BOOK WHEN IT COMES OUT! NEXT DAY WE WENT TO STEINHATCHEE AND KEATON BEACH,FL., GOT ANOTHER HOTEL ON THE GULF. IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL AS WE STOOD ON THE END OF THE DOCK WATCHING THE SUNSET, WE KISSED AND REALIZED WE WERE STARTING TO FALL FOR EACH OTHER.THE NEXT AFTERNOON, POLICE WERE POUNDING ON OUR DOOR TELLING US THE HURRICANE HAD TURNED INTO THE GULF AND WAS HEADED RIGHT FOR US! WOULD'NT YOU KNOW( SHIT ). WE WERE 8 HOURS AWAY FROM THIS MONSTER THAT WAS COMING A SHORE NOW. ALL HOTELS FROM TALLAHASSEE, FL. TO THE TOP OF GEORGIA WERE FULL AND SO WERE THE SHELTERS NOT TO MENTION THEY WOULD NOT TAKE ANIMALS AND JENI MADE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR WHEN I MET HER IT WAS HER AND THE DOGS OR NOTHING. DON'T MAKE HER CHOOSE ( OF COURSE SHE DOES NOT FEEL THAT WAY NOW I THINK ? :-) WE THOUGHT WE WOULD OUT SMART THIS HURRICANE BY GOING NORTH EAST TO JACKSONVILLE THEN, AS IT CAME BACK TO LAND, WE BE HEADED SOUTH. ( WRONG ) THE STORY FROM THERE IS AS GOOD AS ANY ACTION FILM YOU WOULD EVER SEE -,GUSTS OF WIND LIFTING THE BRAVE LITTLE CAR,,DOWNED POWER LINES, TREES FLYING AT US ,AND A HALF TANK OF GAS (DONT WANT TO WRECK THE STORY FOR YOU BUT WILL TELL YOU WE PASSED MANY STATE TROOPERS AND POLICE THAT WERE BUSY TRYING TO SAVE OTHERS AND THEMSELVES AT THE TIME ) IT WAS CRAZY . COMING HOME WAS LIKE SEEING THE END OF THE WORLD , TRAFFIC LIGHTS DANGLING IN STREETS ,STREET SIGNS BLOWN EVERYWHERE,AND NO LANDMARKS TO GUIDE US. HALF OF OUR POOL CAGE WAS STILL IN THE AIR, MILES AWAY .

I am Program Coordinator for Pediatric Palliative Care at Children’s Hospital in Seattle.
We have a 14 year-old patient with leukemia who has told us he is a big fan of Alton Brown. His appreciation of Mr Brown is made all the more poignant because his condition has seriously effected his food intake—so he watches, but can’t eat much.
I am hoping to contact Mr Brown. I am open to ideas. Our patient would love anything!

Can't wait to see the show! My girlfriend & I ate at Panahar in Atlanta last night and they mentioned you guys had been there. Fabulous place! Or rather mundane little place with spectacular food. Owner said they had a blast. Can't wait for the Atlanta show. I hope Food Network puts up a schedule before it airs. How far into the episodes will Atlanta be? It was such a pleasure meeting you and having drinks at the Cantina Marina in DC Friday! You were a highlight of our 10th Anniversary celebration. We sure hope the rest of your shoot went well and we can't wait till the show starts - we're already huge fans.

I'm the marketing director for a Houston area kulinary icon called the breakfast klub. We were so excited to learn that you would be inkluding us in your taping while in the area, only to learn yesterday that we had been kut from the schedule. What a shame! But, we would still like you to experience what has quickly become something of a tourist attraction here in the city with our Saturday "Line-Around-the-Corner" krowds and tales of folks making us their first stop, literally, when they get off of the plane...I'm actually looking at a group that did that today as we speak.

I think your show is AWESOME. Work is keeping me super busy but my boyfriend and I try to catch your show every night. You have a WONDERFUL presence (not even a hint of pretentiousness; we feel like we could totally talk to you) and shows like yours make the food network worth special. We hate all the stupid drama there is on other channels - the great thing about the food network is that you guys care about and focus on food (and never stray from that ideal).
